We’ll use this week’s discussion as a means to receiving feedback and reflecting on a draft of your resume. By 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, please post a draft of your resume and include a narrative discussing the context to the Week 7 Discussion. The draft can be a very rough at this point, and you’ll probably make revisions to it before submitting a draft on Sunday. But share what you have at this point.
When uploading your draft, please also include some context. Discuss the style of resume you chose to create (chronological or functional). Discuss your field/profession and how this resume draft addresses conventions, if any, from your specific field. Discuss the content, organization, and design. (Please see the Resume Assignment for requirements)
Then, between 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13 and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, please provide feedback to at least two classmates. When providing feedback, please ignore issues of spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Instead, focus on addressing the following, more global, areas:
1) Consider the resume content and organization. In what ways does the resume highlight education, jobs, experiences? Where might the resume need to be re-organized to better call attention to education, jobs, skills, and/or experiences?
2) Consider the overall design of the resume. In what ways are the principles of design (C.R.A.P.) being considered? Where might design improve? How might design help to highlight important aspects of the resume?
